Types of massage: differences and how to choose
There are many kinds of massage and they do not all serve the same purpose. Here are the basic differences so you can choose wisely.

Relaxation massage
The best known: soft, wide movements, light to medium pressure and a calm pace. It aims to rest body and mind, and is a good choice if you are starting out.
Sports and deep tissue massage
These use more pressure on specific muscles, to prepare for or recover from physical effort or ease heavily loaded areas. They can feel intense and are not the best fit if you want to switch off.
Sensory and mindfulness massage
Here the experience takes centre stage: slow pace, warmed oils, guided breathing and a carefully kept setting. Tantric massage belongs to this family. See the details in what tantric massage is.
How to choose
Ask yourself three questions before booking:
- Do I want to ease one area or switch off completely?
- Do I prefer firm pressure or gentle touch?
- Do I want a technical session or a more immersive experience?
If in doubt, start gently
If you are unsure, a tantric massage with shower or a nude tantric massage are good starting points. And remember: no wellness massage replaces medical treatment.
